A beautiful specimen of Bayerotrochus hirasei, belonging to the highly distinctive Pleurotomariidae family.

Measuring 86 mm and weighing 75 g, this shell displays the characteristic low, rounded profile and stepped conical spire typical of the species. The surface is finely sculptured with dense spiral lines and shows an attractive combination of cream, pale beige and warm reddish-brown tones arranged in naturally irregular bands.

One of the most distinctive features of the Pleurotomariidae is the characteristic slit along the outer lip, clearly visible in this specimen. This unusual morphology, together with the finely textured surface, gives the shell a highly recognizable and almost architectural appearance.
