A beautifully preserved fossil fish slab featuring two Knightia specimens, originating from the renowned Green River Formation in Wyoming, USA, one of the world’s most celebrated deposits for exceptionally detailed Eocene fossils.

The slab displays two distinct fish fossils, creating a particularly attractive natural composition. The larger specimen is preserved horizontally across the matrix, while the second appears in a more vertical position, giving the piece an unusual sense of movement and making it visually more interesting than a typical single-fish slab.

Knightia was a small schooling freshwater fish that lived during the Eocene Epoch, approximately 50 million years ago. Its fossils are among the most characteristic finds from the Green River lake deposits, where fine sediments allowed delicate anatomical details such as vertebrae, fins and body outlines to be preserved with remarkable clarity.

The warm beige limestone provides a subtle contrast with the darker fossilized remains, highlighting the two specimens and the natural textures of the matrix. Compact yet highly decorative, this slab is an appealing addition to a fossil collection and an elegant natural-history object for display.
