Meteorite fragment

Originating from the historic fall in the renowned “Campo del Cielo” field in Argentina, this extraordinary piece showcases the captivating narrative of a celestial event.

Unique and remarkable, this sizable iron (nickel) meteorite fragment weighs over two kilograms and comes with a custom-crafted metal base designed to elevate its presentation. Campo del Cielo, located in the Chaco Austral region of Argentina, is famous for hosting at least 21 meteorite craters formed by a meteor shower around 4,000 years ago. The disintegration of a massive meteorite weighing approximately 840,000 kg led to the creation of these craters, scattering metal fragments across the region.

The largest crater, near the village of Chorotis, measures 50 meters in diameter. This meteorite fragment is composed mainly of iron, with 6.68% nickel, and smaller percentages of cobalt, phosphorus, and other elements. Its substantial size and fascinating origin make this a rare and noteworthy discovery, perfect for collectors and enthusiasts of celestial artifacts.
