A well-preserved single Diplomystus fossil fish from the famous Green River Formation in Wyoming, USA, dating to the Eocene Epoch, approximately 50 million years ago.

This compact specimen presents the fish in a clear lateral profile, with the vertebral column, ribs, body outline and tail structure distinctly visible. The warm brown fossilized remains contrast beautifully with the pale limestone matrix, giving the piece a strong and highly readable appearance.

The specimen also retains a pleasing sense of volume through the central body area, while the elongated form and pointed head give the fish a particularly elegant silhouette. Diplomystus was a freshwater predatory fish that inhabited the ancient lakes of the Green River ecosystem, one of the most important fossil sites for Eocene fish preservation.

Thanks to its smaller size, this slab is especially easy to display and works well as part of a curated fossil collection, cabinet of curiosities, or natural history interior.
