An exceptional large sectioned ammonite pair from the Tulear region of Madagascar, distinguished by its unusually light mineral palette and spectacular crystalline formations.

The ammonite has been carefully cut and polished to reveal the intricate internal chamber structure of the shell. Each chamber has undergone a different process of mineral replacement and crystallisation, creating a natural mosaic of creamy white, warm yellow, honey and soft beige tones. Yellow and cream calcite is particularly prominent, accompanied by aragonite and other minerals that contribute to the characteristic pale coloration associated with specimens from this area of southern Madagascar.

Several chambers preserve open crystalline cavities lined with sparkling crystals, while others are completely filled with translucent mineral deposits. The contrast between polished mineral surfaces and naturally crystallised pockets gives the fossil remarkable depth and makes every section visually unique.

The central spiral remains beautifully defined, clearly showing the progressive sequence of chambers that formed as the ammonite grew. Displayed together, the two matching halves create an impressive symmetrical composition and reveal both the biological structure of the ancient shell and the geological processes that transformed it over millions of years.

With its substantial proportions and a combined weight of 39.6 kg, this pair is particularly suited to an important natural history collection, luxury interior, gallery or statement display where its scale and luminous mineralisation can be fully appreciated.
