An impressive Bursa bubo, commonly known as the Frog Shell, originating from the Philippines and distinguished by its large size, robust structure and beautifully sculptural form.
This specimen displays the species’ characteristic heavily textured exterior, with pronounced ridges, nodules and natural cream, ivory, ochre and warm brown tones. The wide aperture creates a striking contrast with the rugged outer surface, revealing a smoother interior with soft pearly-white and golden nuances.
A particularly interesting feature of this specimen is the presence of its original operculum, the natural “door” used by the living mollusc to close the shell opening. Still displayed inside the aperture, it adds an important element of completeness and makes the piece especially appealing for collectors.
At 28.5 cm and over 1 kg, this is a substantial natural specimen with a strong decorative presence, ideal for shell collections, cabinets of curiosities, natural history displays or distinctive interior styling.
