An impressive specimen of Charonia nodifera lampas, belonging to the Ranellidae family and notable for its large size, strong sculptural form and beautifully patterned surface.
Measuring 225 mm and weighing 195 g, this shell displays the elongated, powerful profile typical of large tritons, with a tall spire, broad body whorl and a widely expanded outer lip. The aperture is especially attractive, showing soft pale tones that contrast with the patterned exterior.
The surface presents an intricate combination of cream, olive, golden-brown and dark brown markings, arranged in irregular bands and patches that emphasize the shell’s natural sculpture. The specimen also retains its operculum, adding further collector interest and completeness.
Originating from Sicily, this is a particularly striking Mediterranean specimen with strong decorative presence, suitable for both a specialist shell collection and a refined natural-history display.
