A large and attractive specimen of Macrocypraea cervus, traditionally known as Cypraea cervus, one of the most impressive cowries of the western Atlantic.
Measuring 112 mm and weighing 45 g, this specimen shows the elongated, strongly inflated form typical of the species, with a naturally glossy surface and the characteristic pattern of numerous pale spots over a warm brown background.
Commonly known as the Atlantic Deer Cowry, Macrocypraea cervus is native to the tropical and subtropical western Atlantic, including Florida and the Caribbean region. Large specimens such as this are especially appreciated for their substantial proportions and strong decorative presence.
